Barry Caplan loved his family, Philadelphia sports, jazz, The Simpsons and Seinfeld. Baseball and the Phillies played a huge role in helping Barry bond with his children and the community at large. Whether it was taking a group of people to a Phillies game at Veterans Stadium, or playing Wiffle Ball in the alleyway on Brookhaven Road in West Philadelphia, Barry was constantly bringing people together through the game that he loved.
The Barry Caplan Wiffle Ball Classic was created in honor of our loved one, Barry, who passed away due to glioblastoma. The event, which benefits the Darren Daulton Foundation, seeks to defray the medical costs associated with this devastating diagnosis.
As a family we are acutely aware of how devastating the diagnosis of glioblastoma can be. In addition, our family had to deal with the exorbitant cost of treatment. We were very fortunate to have had excellent health coverage to defray those costs. Unfortunately, not every family is in that position. In memory of our loved one Barry Caplan, we would like to help families who are struggling financially to provide care for their loved ones.
